Basic Care Tips: Dracaena Trifasciata (Snake Plant)
The plant shown below is the Dracaena Trifasciata (which used to be called the Sansevieria Trifasciata), or commonly known as the snake plant. Easily identifiable by its dark green body, and yellow/white bands on the outer edges of the leaves.
These hearty plants are relatively straightforward to take care of, and are quite low-maintenance. Able to survive low levels of light, and minimal watering, this is the perfect starter houseplant.
Basic care tips:
- WATER: Don't water too much - wait until the soil dries out before watering again. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
- LIGHT: Place the plant in indirect sunlight
- SOIL: Make sure the soil has good drainage
- TEMPERATURE: ideal temperature range from 65°F - 90°F. Avoid temperatures under 50°F.
This particular variety can grow up to 3 feet high, and can add beauty and vibrance to your houseplant collection.
